Eyrie is built by Vantar AI — a small studio that ships native Mac software with one-time pricing, no subscriptions, no telemetry, and no investors to please. We make the kind of software we wish someone else had already made.

What we believe.

Your notes are yours.

Plain Markdown files in a folder you control. Not a database in someone else's cloud, not a proprietary block format, not encrypted blobs only one app can read. When you write something down, it should outlive the app you wrote it in.

Pay once. Use forever.

Subscriptions are the right model for some software — anything with ongoing server costs, real-time collaboration, or constant infrastructure. They are the wrong model for a Markdown editor. We charge $79 once. If you want to keep using v1 forever, you can.

AI you already pay for.

You're probably already paying Claude Pro or Cursor or Windsurf. We'd rather connect to those than charge you again for AI features. Eyrie's MCP integration is the bridge between your existing AI subscription and your local notes.

Native > Electron.

SwiftUI + AppKit, sandboxed, code-signed by Apple. Eyrie is 14MB to install and feels like the Mac it runs on. We don't ship a browser engine to render a notes app.

Transparent AI or no AI.

Every AI answer ships with clickable citations to the source files it read. Click to verify. We'd rather show you 80% of an answer with three sources than 100% of an answer you can't trust.

Vantar AI is the parent studio behind several products. We focus on tools founders, researchers, and creators would actually pay for.

• Whisper — local speech-to-text Mac app (get-whisper.com).
• Vantar Energy — modular nuclear infrastructure investment (separate from the software studio).

Everything we ship follows the same principles: native, one-time payment where possible, no telemetry, no dark patterns.

Who's behind it.

Vantar AI is run by Malte Wagenbach. Solo founder. Multiple products. Writes the code, answers the support emails, signs the binaries.

Why "Eyrie"?

An eyrie (rhymes with "weary") is an eagle's nest — typically built on a high cliff, with a wide view of everything below. The metaphor fits the product: a vantage point over your accumulated Markdown notes, where AI helps you see patterns you'd otherwise miss.

The italic E mark in the icon was designed by us in collaboration with Quiver AI. The wordmark uses an italic serif because it should feel like writing.
